If you’re looking for a new & exciting place to go with your kids in Cavite, Monster Art Creative Learning Playground @ SM Dasmariñas is the one.
Monster Art Creative Playground @ SM Dasmarinas is a drop-in art & craft play space where children can have fun, and explore the possibilities of their creativity. I was honored to be one of the bloggers to cover its Saturday press event last November 14.
The timing was absolutely right. This solves my dilemma of finding a fun place to take my daughter, Avis Julia, for the weekend. Her birthday was coming up on that week, so when Earth Love Skin was invited to grace their weekend debut I said yes!
As an artist myself, I want my child to grow holistically into a life full of passion and creativity. One of my largest advocacies is experiential learning. That’s what Monster Art Creative Learning Playground is all about.
Shop While Your Kids Have Fun
Monster Art offers two (2) innovative crafts – sand art & scratch art, to keep your kids occupied for hours.
If you’re planning to do some serious mall time, this would be the best place to keep your child from forcing you to buy things you don’t even need (mmhmm, that one supermarket cart could easily turn into a shopping spree – you know that!). They will hardly notice you gone! The art materials from Monster Art are meant to keep them plugged in to what they’re doing.
You can expect your little artists to:
- Fully express themselves in beautiful and engaging art projects
- Experience vibrant color and texture to build fine and gross motor skills
- Learn new skills organically through experimentation
- Work at their own pace without any pressure to complete an activity
A Business With A Heart
What sets Monster Art from all the other play spaces I’ve seen in Cavite is their dedicated research on what benefits they could give to their most important customers: children.
Growing up, I was surrounded with crayons, pastels and more art materials. My Mama & Papa supported me in any way they can, patiently teaching me how to draw, and coaching me gently when I made mistakes. I believe this was what gave me the confidence to be myself and have faith in my craft.
This same kind of nurturing and hands-on learning
is what you can expect from Monster Art.
Not only do they motivate children to create their own masterpiece but they’re also setting the stage for a long-term foundation for their formative years.
Not Just For Kids
Though their target audience are children aged 4-12 years old, Monster Art Creative Learning Playground welcomes teens and adults who want to try something new.
I showed my family what a great idea this was. My sisters and my mom showed definite interest, so I asked if they wanted to come along to check it out. Our family has a deep-rooted love for art: we’re the people who grew up entering & winning poster contests. Not to mention the sand art was a nostalgic reminder of my fourth grade art project. This was so much plus!
Once we’ve settled on our corner, my sisters started working their magic! I’m so happy this has turned into a family bonding! Or was it turning into a competition? Oh no Avis and I have to up our game!
Our pick was Cinderella for the sand art & a castle for the scratch card. We didn’t know if they had Snow White so we settled on the first design we saw from Monster Art’s catalog.
It was cute seeing my girl make friends with other children, but she’s only days shy from turning one. This was the first time she was immersed with other kids in a public event, so I was half-expecting that she’d throw a fit… which she did.
Still, it didn’t take away the joy of creating. It was so fun that I got caught up doing her Cinderella sand art! I decided this would make a lovely present when she is able to appreciate visuals. One day I will be able to tell her this story, or she’ll end up backtracking my blog — whichever comes first! 😀
Monster Art Creative Learning Playground is located in SM Dasmariñas, an accessible shopping mall from any point in southern Cavite. Coming from Manila, you may take the Carmona or MCX exit via SLEX, or from Roxas Boulevard, take Emilio Aguinaldo Highway. Going there only took us 20-30 minutes, since we were from within the city.
Use of products is very easy, depending on the difficulty of the activity chosen. The area is comfortable although it could get cramped when on full days. As it is intended for 4-12 years old, younger children like Avis don’t have the appropriate motor skills to handle fine art yet so guidance and monitoring is highly recommended.
However, I won’t recommend sand art for kids with asthma or have respiratory problems. They have other activities to offer though, like coloring books and pads to accommodate your young ones.
Monster Art staff is well-trained to conduct activities and engage with children. Their team is there to help your child accomplish his work, but they keep in mind how independence plays a great role in developing creativity.
Monster Art staff is warm & pro-active, and smiles abound the corner of this art haven. What I find so interesting is that they’re not just there to do their job, they’re passionate people who care. They care about their services, the children and they care about how their business influences lives.
They won’t hard sell you with any of their dozen (and might I add, beautiful!) products or tell you that you need to avail of their services now. No. They take a step back and let you explore their store freely, letting you soak in their mini wonderland.
And if you seem interested then that’s the time they step in with their arsenal of benefits. It’s hard to resist, because, why then would you not want your child to learn and be happy?
I love that they’re also patient with children. Like I said, Avis had a bit of a situation and this girl Agnes offered to babysit her for the meantime while I finish our sand art.
That was unexpected and I didn’t even ask her, she just sort of felt it!
To me, that’s something I truly find refreshing: exceptional customer service that understands.

The activities are pocket friendly for the average market. They also offer party packages & mobile craft booth rental for special occasions. Avis and I were awarded with a complimentary Mad Monster Package that includes 1 sand art card + 1 scratch art card.
For their price point, Monster Art’s quality is impressive. Parents and their kids can expect a great value from them. It’s good investment knowing that your children’s play time doubles as a stimulating activity that enhances them holistically.
Their shop also stocks some of the latest and trendy art materials & coloring books (including Johanna Basford’s enchanting Secret Garden). They also have a few stationery items for sale.
Founded by Meerly Wang, a Malaysian-Chinese who moved to Philippines with her Filipino husband in April 2015, Monster Art Creative Learning Playground was built after noticing the lack of opportunities (especially in Cavite) that allow children to learn art outside the confines of the classroom. It’s a quick but inexpensive way to gear up for an art-driven career.
Meerly and I exchanged a few emails prior to this event and I learned that we both share the same passion for art & life improvement. We also had the same line of work in retail, marketing, business & design.
Meeting her was such a delight. I love the zest she wears with her spirit when you’re around her. I can tell she’s an ideas-to-reality person like I am. Imagine, she built her business in 7 months! How cool is that?
Unique and fun as it is, Monster Art Creative Learning Playground aims to fill the void with an alternative learning experience. This is what really drew me in.
The attention to detail blew me away.
From the design of their kiosk, sand station down to their flyers & business cards, Monster Art Creative Playground was well thought out. It shows how Meerly poured her love for this. You kind of forget that you’re inside a busy mall.
Their color scheme and their mascot Matty invite everyone to try and come in. Even the staff sports the iconic artist fashion in red beret & stripes! The friendly art guides also explain well how to best use their products.
At first all the snazzy art cards were a bit overwhelming. Questions like,
“How does this work?”
“How do I start?”
“Which part should I do first?”
are what came to my mind. Not long enough, Meerly and one lady from the Monster Art team came over to give me some tips. Less than 5 minutes, and we’re all feeling like pros.
Here’s a video of my sister doing her sand art.
Now on to my favorite! The sand art takes it away. Aside from being familiar with it, it challenges motor & logical skills. According to the guides, you need to start from the darker color and work your way to the light. I haven’t done that exactly, so Cinderella’s eyes somehow looked like they had conjunctivitis. Lol.
I just love everything about Monster Art Philippines! And look at our loot bag! Everything’s so pretty! Products to branding, it’s an eye candy you must not miss when in Dasmarinas. And it’s also a great therapy to divert your stress into focus.
Would I visit Monster Art again?
A BIG YES!
Thank you Meerly & Monster Art Team for making Avis’ Julia’s birthday week a memorable one! We all had fun & enjoyed the goodies! Till next time!
